how my health journey began

I began my health journey around 2008 when I was about 57 years old (now 66 in 2017). I started having health issues that were disabling me, such as…

  • Fibromyalgia (full body pain and in my joints, feeling foggy headed, sensitive nerves)
  • Fatty liver (the doctor said this was caused from years of eating bad fats like hot dogs, salami, french fries, ice cream, margarine, etc.)
  • Heel spurs and plantar fasciitis (I couldn’t be on my feet very long because of the pain)
  • Migraines (which were getting worse and more frequent with time)
  • Diverticulitis
  • Hemorrhoids (from years of chronic constipation)
  • Weight gain
  • Recurring pains in different places (left ovary, right lower back, above left ear)
  • My toes were beginning to curl and deform
  • Dark spots growing on the backs of my hands
  • Recurring urinary tract infections
  • Sciatic nerve pain that made me limp
    etc…

After several tests and doctor visits I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and told I had a fatty liver. I also started experiencing migraines for the first time in my life, and had gained about 50 pounds in a years time. When I told my doctor that I preferred not to take pharmaceutical drugs, but would rather research and find natural ways to overcome my conditions, he got quite upset with me. He told me that natural means were dangerous, because they haven’t been tested and aren’t controlled, but any drugs he would prescribe for me have been tested and are safe.

making a choice

Well…after reading the possible side effects of different pharmaceutical drugs, I decided I didn’t want to take that risk…so I began researching. I was excited about the things I was discovering—mostly about how we can heal ourselves through our diet, healthy living, and eliminating toxins in our lives, as much as possible.

I tried different diets, supplements, therapies, and have read many articles, books and websites in my search for healing and answers. I want to share some of the things I have learned in my health journey with others, in hopes that it might be a help to someone else.

In about a 3 year period the majority of the different ailments I’ve had are diminished or completely gone away. I can walk again and feel I have regained my health. I’m so thankful.

i love learning

One of the things I came upon in my journey was learning about the healing power of plants and essential oils. I had so much fun learning about essential oils that I began a blog where I started sharing things I was learning. I was living in Mexico during that time and, when I moved back to California, I was busy and stopped writing posts.

It has now been 5 years since I stopped posting, although I have continued learning on my health journey. My wonderful son has encouraged me to write more and he set up this site for me. I hope to share about some of the things I have learned, and am still learning.

gratitude

Probably the greatest thing I have learned of all is the power of gratitude. Gratitude is magical. Gratitude rocks my world. I’m so thankful I discovered gratitude.
